Bollywood is kicking off with a busy January 2015, and this is also because of a number of TV stars trying their cinema luck. The film “Crazy Cukkad Family” will see Kushal Punjabi try and shine, however promos look so similar to “Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana” and is a definite failure at the box office. Bipasha Basu gives TV spoilt brat Karan Singh Grover his debut film “Alone”. Bipasha seems to be carving out a ‘horror queen’ niche and Karan does look hot, but will he be able to carry of more than 25 minutes of standing still and staring at the camera type of drama? Songs are good, especially the Dr Zeus lift off “Touch My Body”. Finally Gurmeet Choudhary after mega dance stints on TV takes over in the Fox Star Studios distribution “Khamoshiyan” and is already picking up steam with soulful soundtrack. He has a strong co-actor Ali Fazal, but their protagonist and actress Sapna Pabbi looks lost and uninterested.

TV done, so that leaves big budget and actors such as Akshay Kumar in another patriotic film “Baby” to knock off another record at the box office. Sonam Kapoor is all set to rule in “Dolly Ki Doli” and the pair of Arjun Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha is gaining fans for “Tevar”.

Later in February, Amitabh Bachan returns with Director R Balki from “Cheeni Kum” now in “Shamitabh” with South Hero Dhanush. This one is to watch out for, R Balki’s record speaks for itself. To see and hear a title like “Patel Ki Punjabi Shaadi” already is interesting and with a star cast that includes Rishi Kapoor and Paresh Rawal, you can expect the unexpected. But it is the thriller love story with Arjun Rampal, Jacqueline Fernandez and Ranbir Kapoor in “Roy” that has the curiosity lit up.

March will be uneventful so far, with Riteish Deshmukh and Vivek Oberoi in “Bank Chor”. What is Anushka Sharma doing with a film like NH10? She makes her production debut and this borders story will be a new territory for her as actress and producer. The fun awaits in the film “The Legend of Michael Mishra” starring Arshad Warsi and Boman Irani but no high expectations of box office records.

It seems the Khans have taken the first quarter of 2015 off, and we will see them dancing and picking up award trophies.
