The Greatest Showman

A circus is full of tricks from animals and the humans, but the spirit only comes alive from the vision and hard work of its creators. The Greatest Showman is inspired on the Barnum & Bailey Circus. The film received much acclaim at the Golden Globes and Oscars, by winning the Best Golden Globe for Best Original Song “This is Me” composed by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.

The film is a simple story of an ambitious and curious boy named P.T. Barnum who rises up to the challenge of giving his wife Charity and their two daughters a better and bigger life. In this musical/comedy it is when his daughters tell him that he needs to add some life to the collection of animal statues only then will the public be attracted to see it. P.T. Barnum seeks the strange and unbelievable people who have been discarded by the society as misfits and lo behold the circus is ready.

He soon rolls in money but when he joins hands with Philip, the character based on P.T. Burnam’s business partner James Anthony Bailey, he meets the singing sensation Jenny Lind. Jenny falls in love with P.T. and he loses a lot of money, coming rock bottom until his own misfits give him another chance.

Hugh Jackman is a large hearted man and he is perfect as P.T. Burnam. Michelle Williams for a change is in a happy role as his wife Charity. Zac Efron is cool as Philip and Rebecca Ferguson as a vixen completes the film.

The Greatest Showman is inspirational because in its subtle ways it reminds you of the current racial challenges we are having and the lack of self confidence and opportunities that the youngsters are facing. Being yourself is hard but not impossible.

Baywatch

The new Baywatch franchise saw fresh blood from Dwyane Johnson “The Rock”, superstar Zac Efron and Bollywood star Priyanka Chopra come together for the director Seth Gordon edition.

Seth Gordon is famous for directing Horrible Bosses and you see that flavor in his version of Baywatch. There are catchy dialogues and excellent screenplay work done by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift.

Yes, Baywatch belongs to the beach life guard team, who are more than that. They run in the signature slow motion wearing red bikinis and shorts but the team is made up of different talents, including marine biologist and a former Olympic Gold medal winner. The film is about protecting the beach from a drug peddler who is taking over to conquer the real estate market. The villain here is property baroness Victoria Leeds, played by sultry Priyanka Chopra. She is facing Mitch Buchannon (Dwayne Johnson) and his team of Baywatch, which includes Matt Brody (Zac Efron), Summer Quinn (Alexandra Daddario) and Stephanie Holden (lfenesh Hadera).

Matt is reluctant to accept training and authority from Mitch but the two soon realize they need to work together to stop Victoria. This crazy adventure involves many funny situations including the best one, in the morgue room. Credit goes to the cast of Dwayne, Zac and even Priyanka has got a shine on as the bad lady.

Baywatch is a must watch for fun and you need to start following these guys because next one is coming soon with the original Baywatch Babe, Pamela Anderson.
